** in-person event **
There is so much misinformation polluting the communication space that every once in a while, you have to set the record straight. Steve Moshier, President of the NAACP of Cedar Rapids, will join us at the March Intersections to do just that. He’ll discuss the organization’s history, its values, and community engagement in this current political climate.
You may make your reservation to attend in-person (with lunch) by clicking on the "Register Now" button. Three boxed lunch options are available: turkey & swiss on ciabatta, roast beef & cheddar on wheatberry, and garden veggie salad; boxed lunches are $15 each. You must pre-order and pay for your lunch by 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3. Late orders or walk-in requests for lunch will not be available.
If you have any issues registering, please email info@interfaithallianceiowa.org or call 515.279.8715.
ABOUT OUR PRESENTER | Steven Moshier, retired and an active community member of the City of Marion, philosophically believes ‘We are Better Together’ as well as ‘What are you doing for others’ when working for Social Change. A graduate from the University of Iowa with a focus on Political Sociology, Steve gained enormous experience working with the City of Cedar Rapids and Linn County with underserved groups before earning a second degree in Computer Science and working in telecommunications as a software developer.
He also gained insight and experience serving on community boards and commissions, including the Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission, Marion Civil Rights Commission, City of Marion Community Equity Task Force, Cedar Rapids NAACP, and the Four Oaks Board of Directors.
In his spare time (when not cheering on Iowa sports), Steve is an avid soccer fan (men's and women's) and enjoys playing golf and pickleball (indoor and outdoor). He was also a volunteer as a tax preparer for United Way VITA program.
Intersections is a monthly gathering of the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa in Cedar Rapids. It's an opportunity to learn, to participate in civil dialogue, and to discuss issues at the crossroads of religion and politics.
