Bridging the gap: Political advocacy from afar

With the Iowa Legislature gaveling in on Monday, January 13, it’s time to focus on what’s happening at the Iowa State Capitol again. But sometimes it can feel like advocating from afar is lonely and futile. Does it really matter if progressive Iowans from remote cities and towns speak up on the issues? And, if so, how can we most effectively advocate – whether we live in Cedar Rapids, Mason City, Ames, West Liberty, Nodaway, or even Des Moines?

Join us for Intersections – in person or online – to learn from progressive leaders who help Iowans every day to use their voices, regardless of where they live.

There are three ways to attend Intersections. Registration is required for all three:

• Attend in person (with lunch) by clicking here. Three boxed lunch options are available: smoked turkey, ham & swiss, and vegetarian wrap; boxed lunches are $15 each. What’s going to happen this year in the Iowa Legislature? What issues are going to be debated? What rights are going to be under attack – again? And how can progressive Iowans be the most useful and effective in protecting their own rights and those of their neighbors?

Join us for Crossroads as we host our good friends and the two women leading the progressive voices in the Iowa Senate and House – newly elected leader of the Senate Democratic Caucus, Janice Weiner, and returning leader of the House Democratic Caucus, Jennifer Konfrst.
