Bridging the gap: Political advocacy from afar
Presenters: Terese Grant, Co-chair, League of Women Voters of Iowa Mike Owen, Deputy Director, Common Good Iowa Connie Ryan, Executive Director, Interfaith Alliance of Iowa & Action Fund
With the Iowa Legislature gaveling in on Monday, January 13, it’s time to focus on what’s happening at the Iowa State Capitol again. But sometimes it can feel like advocating from afar is lonely and futile. Does it really matter if progressive Iowans from remote cities and towns speak up on the issues? And, if so, how can we most effectively advocate – whether we live in Cedar Rapids, Mason City, Ames, West Liberty, Nodaway, or even Des Moines?
Join us for Intersections – in person or online – to learn from progressive leaders who help Iowans every day to use their voices, regardless of where they live.
There are three ways to attend Intersections. Registration is required for all three:
- Attend in person (with lunch) by clicking here. Three boxed lunch options are available: smoked turkey, ham & swiss, and vegetarian wrap; boxed lunches are $15 each. You must pre-order and pay for your lunch by 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 31. Late orders or walk-in requests for lunch will not be available.
- Attend in person (no lunch) by clicking here. There is no cost for this option, but we do need your RSVP to ensure we have enough seating.
- Watch via YouTube by clicking here. This virtual presentation will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel.
Intersections is a monthly gathering of the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa in Cedar Rapids. |
