MONDAY, JUNE 1, 12:00 pm: A Call to Action

Ahmaud Arbery. DarQuan Jones. Christian Cooper. George Floyd. Just the latest in too long of a list when black men ended up on the wrong side of hate, bigotry, and violence and, for some, death. When will enough be enough? When will we be ready as a society to systematically and effectively address and stop racism?

Join us for What’s Happening this Monday, June 1, as Connie talks with Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad about the latest racist events but also the actions he believes must happen to address racism in our country and communities.

Faithfully Community: Faith, Food, and Friendship

THURSDAY, MAY 28

6:30 - 7:30 pm

In times of crises, it helps people to turn to and be with their community, including (for some people) their faith community. In this unique and difficult time of COVID-19, social distancing and isolation have become barriers to the comfort often found in the rituals and physical connectedness of communities of faith.

Join us Thursday, May 28, on the Iowa Interfaith Exchange Facebook Live as faith leaders from different faith communities talk about food: from dietary guidelines and restrictions to food in their sacred texts to the power of food to bring the community together.

Panelists include:
Avalan Wilson, Baha’i community
Baljit Virdi, Sikh community.
A speaker fro Tawba Islamic Center

This Facebook Live event is sponsored by the Iowa Interfaith Exchange partnership organizations, including The Comparison Project at Drake University, CultureALL, the Des Moines Area Religious Council, and the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa.
